Job summary

New Flyer, North America's heavy‑duty transit bus leader, seeks a Production Supervisor for the Winnipeg facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will direct day‑to‑day operations of production departments, ensuring goals align with the Master Schedule and corporate targets.

You will monitor capacity, drive safety and Lean initiatives, manage budgets, and mentor a unionized workforce while maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline in operations management or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years’ previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others and work well under pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and knowledge of Oracle would be an asset.
  • Experienced with Lean manufacturing considered an asset.
  • Prior experience working with a unionized workforce considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the capacity of the production departments to ensure equipment and resources meet requirements as set out by the Master Schedule.
  • Establish operational KPIs and OPEX targets and ensure objectives are met.
  • Reports on departmental objectives and issues in Daily Operational Meetings.
  • Promote Health and Safety programs and actively eliminate hazardous conditions for a safer working environment.
  • Maintain production budgets for each department, review results with budget owners monthly, identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure production areas comply with safety, health, and environment requirements.
  • Coordinate operating departments to ensure continuous product flow to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Promote Labour/Management relations by resolving issues and grievances.
  • Participate in and promote Lean manufacturing activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the production departments with the Winnipeg New Flyer facility. This position ensures both long- and short-term goals are achieved through the implementation and completion of both departmental and corporate goals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Monitors the capacity of the production departments to ensure both equipment and resources, including manpower, meet requirements as set out by the Master Schedule.
  • Ensures operational KPI’s and OPEX are established, and objectives are met.
  • Reports on departmental objectives and issues in Daily Operational Meetings.
  • Monitors and promotes the Health and Safety programs and takes an active role in the elimination of hazardous conditions in developing a safer working environment.
  • Maintains operational budgets for each production department, including obtaining and reviewing budget results with budget owners monthly, identifying deviations and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Ensures the production areas are following all safety, health, and environment requirements.
  • Coordinates operating departments to ensure a continual follow of product to meet both internal and external requirements.
  • Promotes Labour/Management relations through the settlement of issues and grievances.
  • Participates and promotes Lean manufacturing activities.
