Job summary

New Flyer in Winnipeg is seeking a Quality Supervisor to lead QA frontline staff, drive containment actions, and guide production cells in corrective and preventive actions at the Winnipeg vehicle production plant.

You will develop and enhance SOPs and work instructions, support ISO 9001 initiatives, and partner with internal customers and suppliers to ensure conformance and continuous improvement. The shift requires afternoon hours with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or associate degree in Manufacturing/Production or Quality Assurance.
  • ASQ CQIA or equivalent QC/QA certificate.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in complex manufacturing environments with a focus on quality control, audits, assurance, root cause investigations and preventive actions.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a quality inspection staff management position.
  • 2+ years of experience interpreting CMM inspection outputs, interpreting FPI / X-ray / Mag-particle / other NDI outputs.
  • Proficient in precision measurement and inspection equipment, including calipers, verniers, micrometers, CMMs, optical scopes, torque tools, and NDI instruments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, mine, analyze, interpret, and summarize quality data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Oracle or other ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation to identify critical-to-quality requirements and ensure product conformance.

  • Pursue open actions and promote systems-thinking with all QA inspectors.

  • Coordinate communication between internal customers, inspectors and internal suppliers within New Flyer.
  • Support ISO 9001 and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve quality related concerns on a timely basis.
  • Oversee Vehicle final delivery process; ensure proper information is flowing from Field service, to address all open demands.

Shift: Please note that this position operates on Afternoon shifts (12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.), and may require flexibility to work alternate shifts and overtime, including Saturdays, as required.

Postion Summary

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing Quality Control and Assurance activities and Quality Inspectors. This role will promote quality-at-source, lead containment actions, guide production cells in corrective & preventive actions, and support Winnipeg vehicle production plant. The role also drives continuous improvement through the development, implementation, and enhancement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Standard Work.

What Will You Do
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all QA frontline staff, including appropriate training.
  • Maintain awareness of current quality issues, containment activities, and improvement initiatives; communicate status updates during production meetings
  • Pursue open actions and promote systems-thinking with all QA inspectors.
  • Perform situational analysis for the appropriate deployment of staff or assignment of tasks.
  • Coordinate communication between internal customers, inspectors and internal suppliers within New Flyer.
  • Support ISO 9001 and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve quality related concerns on a timely basis.
  • Liaison with production personnel to resolve Quality or Conformance problems, Design changes, shop floor instructions and other related issues
  • Identify shortcomings in operations and document for improvement through C&CAR process
  • Oversee and maintain the NCP reject report process and related outputs
  • Monitor Scrap, rework and vendor returns
  • Oversee Vehicle final delivery process; ensure proper information is flowing from Field service, to address all open demands
  • Provide product data and support to field staff and to external customer
  • Provide matrix of QA performance for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor inspection processes for conformance to company policies and procedures.
  • Support and verify Production self-inspection processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance
  • Ensure the effective administration and follow-up of ISO-required quality processes, including measuring instrument Calibration, containment, cause & corrective action report , field service action reports response , supplier corrective action requests , inter-plant problem reports , quality control and quality assurance records
Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Post-secondary diploma or associate degree in fundamentals of Manufacturing/Production or Quality Assurance (or) Post-secondary skilled trade license in Industrial / Mechanical / Electrical or related fields.
  • ASQ CQIA or equivalent certificate in QC / QA / QI / QM
  • 7 - 10+ years of experience in complex manufacturing environments with a focus on quality control, audits, assurance, root cause investigations and preventive actions.
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience in a quality inspection staff management position.
  • 2+ years of experience in interpreting CMM inspection outputs, interpreting FPI / X-ray / Mag-particle / other NDI outputs.
