Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration with a focus on leadership.
  • APICS-CPIM certification considered an asset.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on supervision.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Material department employees in day-to-day activities.
  • Lead supply base improvements to support business goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of materials and inform the department of new developments; ensure all departments affected by changes are notified.
  • Assist in development, communication, and deployment of departmental policies, guidelines, and tools to ensure success in all processes.
  • Manage the Material department budget with indirect labour, overtime, materials, supplies, and communication devices.
  • Ensure all ISO procedures and work instruction requirements are fulfilled by the team.
  • Drive reduction of inventory adjustments by monitoring reason codes.
  • Monitor and reduce negatives to zero; monitor line entry schedule and part status prior to and during the build process.
  • Perform cell audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Promote continuous improvement within the department through compliance, audits, and lean principles.
  • Promote safety daily through communications and adherence to safety processes, procedures, and rules.

Job description

Position Summary

As a key member of the Materials team, this position is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to receiving, shipping, and point of use locations and KANBAN locations. This role manages internal parts movement within the plant and oversees two kitting operations to ensure timely and accurate material availability for production. It also supports continuous improvement of the department and its team through training and continual learning.
