Job summary

Interpro Pipe & Steel Inc. is seeking a Production Planning Manager in Calgary, Alberta to lead the end-to-end planning and scheduling for OCTG and small diameter line pipe mills.

You will coordinate with sales, operations, shipping, and finance to balance demand with mill capacity and inventory, ensuring on-time delivery. The role requires a minimum of three years in manufacturing planning, strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex planning cycles in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations management, business, mathematics or finance is required.
  • Candidate should be process oriented, persuasive and capable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing planning or OCTG & SD line pipe business.
  • Strong time management and ability to handle varying weekly hours and monthly cycles.
  • Proficient in managing and analyzing capacity, material planning, inventory, shipping and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales, operations, shipping, technical services and finance to plan and schedule OCTG & SD line pipe production.
  • Oversee demand and supply scenario planning and material requirements to meet customer needs.
  • Develop schedules that support on-time delivery, inventory goals and EBITDA targets.
  • Align demand with production capacity across multiple plants and departments.
  • Monitor production and generate planning reports; drive baseline plans during monthly cycles.
  • Provide regular updates on mill availability and production status to management.

Job Description and Responsibilities
  • The Production Planning Manager collaborates with sales, operations, shipping, technical services, and finance to complete the production planning and scheduling of OCTG & small diameter line pipe mills from steel ordering to pipe delivery.
  • The Production Planning Manager oversees demand and supply scenario planning including material requirement management to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • This role offers supply options and trade-offs based on different priorities for all mills and will ensure that the schedules support on-time delivery, inventory requirements, and EBIDTA goals.
  • This role will ensure that demand is aligned with production planning and mill capacities throughout the fulfillment cycle, working closely with internal departments to gather and prioritize product and customer requirements.
  • Manages the overall planning cycle for OCTG and SD line pipe mills
  • Monitors production of customer orders through each plant process
  • Ensure all procedures are regularly reviewed and updated following established quality policies and company guidelines as well as develop new procedures as necessary to support added functions and responsibilities of the role and department
  • Manages mill file reviews for OCTG and SD line pipe production
  • Key point person during monthly planning cycle for projecting sales and developing baseline plans
  • Provide regular updates on production and mill availability with management group for all OCTG & SD line pipe facilities
  • Ensures that the production schedules are updated based on changes in customer requirements, production limitations and raw material availability
  • Facilitate negotiations/resolutions between production, sales, shipping and other departments
  • Manage and generate reports on raw material, work in progress and finished goods inventory
  • Manage and review planning reports for key performance indicators for the team
  • Attend the forecast meetings and understand drivers, challenge assumptions, and lead the team to agreement on the total demand plan
  • Ensures that raw material is ordered and closely coordinates customer plans with supply planning
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned by PRM or defined by company objectives
  • Monitor, manage and accurately report the forecast for physical inventory levels for Alberta mills
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations management, business, mathematics or finance
  • The ideal candidate will be a process oriented, persuasive, and capable of supporting accuracy and functionality in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing planning and/or OCTG & small diameter line pipe business
  • Excellent time management and the understanding hours will vary weekly based on demands of the role and monthly planning cycles
  • Proficient in managing and analyzing various levels of supply chain processes (e.g., capacity planning, raw material planning, inventory planning, shipping and logistics)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity
  • Experience dealing with multi-site operations is preferred
  • Strong people skills; able to deal with opposing opinions and contribute to reaching compromise
  • Computer proficient with experience in spreadsheets, word processing (Microsoft Office)
