Job summary

Interpro Pipe & Steel Inc. is seeking a Process Technology Specialist for our Red Deer manufacturing facility, including pipe finishing, heat treat and threading. You will drive process improvement and quality performance with cross-functional teams.

Bring a degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Science and 3–5 years in R&D/QA/Engineering. Six Sigma Green belt and SPC experience are a plus; travel to other Interpro locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • 3–5 years in an R&D, QA or Engineering team.
  • Six Sigma Green belt and/or SPC experience a plus.
  • Experience in metal forming and machining, especially threading.
  • Occasional travel to other Interpro locations may be required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Strong teamwork and communication; highly organized.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support at Red Deer facility incl. pipe finishing, heat treat and threading.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to enhance quality/performance.
  • Lead data-driven analysis; publish KPI reports on rejects, rework and process factors.
  • Correlate data to process conditions and publish action items.
  • Collaborate with QA/Operations to embed control plans and training.
  • Conduct DOE and process optimization trials; evaluate potential savings.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Join Interpro Pipe & Steel as a Process Technology Specialist where you'll provide technical support at our Red Deer manufacturing facility which includes pipe finishing operations, heat treat and threading.
  • The Process Technology Specialist works with all departments to identify and implement opportunities for improvement so that product quality and performance are improved.
  • Address process control/product performance issues with a cross functional team by utilizing statistical tools and techniques to lead the group to a data driven solution Develop trending for quality KPIs such as rejects, rework, downgrades by mill/product, and key process factors.
  • Correlate this data to process conditions.
  • Publish update reports and provides analysis of the data with necessary action items.
  • Works with operations/quality team to improve trends Lead brainstorming sessions (A3, and FMEA types) with operations and quality personnel during the initial stages of the process control effort or efforts to improve the process.
  • Conduct process optimization trials by using statistical methods (Design of Experiments) as necessary If a financial investment is required, provide support to the QA/Operations teams to define the potential savings of process improvements.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance and Operations teams to ensure that shop floor documents and training identify the features of process control necessary (targets/tolerances; frequency of measurement, etc) to maintain the process control system.
  • Attend six sigma, lean manufacturing, and process control equipment conferences to stay abreast of process control techniques/advancements/ that can be used in our manufacturing processes to continually improve our performance
Requirements
  • Recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a R&D, QA or Engineering team
  • Six Sigma Green belt and/or statistical process control experience would be an asset
  • Experience in metal forming and machining processes, especially threading, would be an asset
  • Occasional travel to other Interpro locations may be required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
  • Proven teamwork, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with attention to detail in the administration of projects
