Job summary

Finning International Inc. in Edmonton is seeking a Production Manager to lead daily production operations, drive safety, quality, and efficiency across shifts, and manage resources to meet targets.

You will implement lean initiatives, analyze variances, and develop plans for capital and process changes within the OEM Remanufacturing division. The role requires strong leadership, a track record in heavy equipment remanufacturing, and experience in a unionized setting, with proficiency in MS

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Operational Management Experience.
• Experience leading teams that rebuild or remanufacture heavy equipment components is considered an asset.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Demonstrated process improvement experience.
• Able to interact with various levels, analyze information to understand product and procedures.
• Ability to assimilate and convey technical material clearly.
• Know how to find information and identify essential details.

• Familiar with ISO Quality Assurance Program.
• Strong in process analysis and change management.
• Strong in communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety, quality, and production for the area; provide leadership and supervision, and manage the human resources for the department.
• Coordinate your shift to ensure area is meeting production, quality and safety targets.
• Ensure safety policies and operating practices are implemented, identify deficiencies and take corrective action as necessary.
• Respond to safety incidents quickly and with appropriate corrective actions.
• Proactively look for lean and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Problem solve process, quality, and production improvements.
• Ensure communication among the shifts is seamless and standardized with weekly toolbox meetings.
• Develop detailed plans for managing and communicating process changes.
• Develop business cases for capital & operational expenditures for departmental projects.
• Execute the weekly Production Plan with labour load leveling, overtime management and variance tracking.
• Conduct weekly production and quality variance analysis, and improvement recommendations.
• Provide direct cost oversight (labour, overtime, consumables and material overages).
• Review warranty reports, CARs and NCRs and delegate investigations as necessary.
• Initiate department CARs and participate/lead in corrective actions.
• Develop technician career progression and training plans within the department.
• Ensure scheduling and completion of daily and preventative maintenance responsibilities.
• Conduct regular 5S, process, Contamination Control and quality audits.
• Perform Performance Management and Progressive discipline as required.

Note: Weekday Night Shift: 3 on / 4 off then 4 on / 3 off Shift working Monday-Wednesday and every other Thursday. Hours would be 5:30PM - 5:30AM
