Job summary

O.E.M. Remanufacturing Company Inc. is seeking a Metal Coating Technician to salvage blocks, crankshafts, powertrain and engine components in compliance with specifications.

The role involves preparing parts for Thermal Spray, operating spray equipment, and using precision measuring tools within a unionized environment. The position is a static weekend night shift, 4 days on 3 days off, 5:30pm–5:30am, with potential training on a Mon-Thu/Fri schedule before transitioning to weekends.

Qualifications

  • 6+ months in a similar wage grade or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in machine shop, welding or grinding preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings and salvage instructions.
  • Ability to work safely with respirator and PPE.

Overview

The Metal Coating Technician is responsible for the salvage of blocks, crankshafts, powertrain and engine components in compliance with required specifications, including scope of repairs, quoting, and remanufacturing.

Job Description

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 3 or higher.
  • Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.
  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.
  • Competency in a machine, welding or grinding shop environment is preferred.
  • Previous welding experience is preferred.
  • Experience operating forklift and overhead crane is preferred.
  • Able to work indoors with noise, vibrations, and other hazards that are common to the job.
  • Able to work in uncomfortable or unusual positions at times.
  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Understands drawings, specifications & salvage instructions.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and a high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures.

Note: This posting is for a static weekend night shift scheduled 4 days on 3 days off, followed by 3 days on 4 days off, Thursday to Sunday, followed by Friday to Sunday. The shift will be 5:30pm - 5:30am. The successful candidate may be required to complete training during a Mon - Thurs / Fri weekday shift and will move to weekends once they have sufficient experience. Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.

Will require successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, a criminal background check, and a medical assessment.

Hourly Rate

$32.89 - $40.31 / Hour

Union Membership

This is a unionized position. Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
