Job summary

Select Finishing Ltd in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a Coatings Technician to coordinate daily testing, maintenance, and upkeep of the E-Coat Line. You will ensure resources and materials are available and work with the Production Manager to plan daily activities.

The role focuses on operating and monitoring equipment, maintaining records, following SOPs, and collaborating with Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or general labour role.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor e-coat production equipment to ensure consistent process performance and product quality.
  • Prepare and manage materials, supplies, and equipment required for daily production activities.
  • Monitor process conditions and make appropriate adjustments to maintain established operating parameters.
  • Perform routine inspections and testing of materials, components, and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Identify defects, process variations, and equipment issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, testing, and process records in accordance with company requirements.
  • Follow and support the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustments, modifications, and improvement activities.
  • Participate in investigations related to product defects, customer complaints, and non-conforming materials.
  • Assist with identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions for quality and production issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve productivity, process efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain an efficient production flow.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company health and safety policies, environmental requirements, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Properly use and maintain required PPE and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, spills, or equipment hazards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with production priorities, process concerns, quality issues, and other operational requirements.

Job Purpose

The Coatings Technician is responsible for coordinating the daily testing, maintenance, and upkeep of the E-Coat Line. The E-Coat Technician will ensure that adequate resources and materials are available for the operation of the line, and work in conjunction with the Production Manager to plan daily activities.
