Job summary

Martinrea International seeks a Chemical Engineering professional to lead coatings process improvements and to develop new coatings systems. The role blends lab work with plant-floor optimization of e-coat and powder coat lines.

The candidate should hold a university degree in Chemical Engineering with 3–5 years in e-coat/paint facilities and demonstrate strong English communication, organization, and analytical skills. On-site in Vaughan, Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering and/or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in e-coat/paint facilities.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of CAD: 3D models, drawings and GD&T is a plus.
  • Knowledge of e-coat and powder coat processes is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, assess and implement continuous improvement projects related to current or future project planning.
  • Design, develop, and test new coatings systems and chemical titrations.
  • Conduct research into development or improvement of coatings process.
  • Oversee all testing for the e-coat and powder coat lines.
  • Supervise e-coat lab technicians.
  • Establish and conduct quality control programs and procedures to ensure material and product standards.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and health & safety acts.
  • Abide by company policies and plant rules and PPE requirements.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing and improving the coatings process and conducting research and tests to develop new coatings.

Required Education And Experience
  • University degree in Chemical Engineering and/or 3 - 5 years of experience working in the e-coat/paint facilities
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) knowledge
  • Knowledge in CAD: 3D Models, Drawings and GD&Ts an asset
  • Knowledge of e-coat and powder coat process is an asset
Essential Functions
  • Consistently develop, assess and implement continuous improvement projects in relation to current or future project planning.
  • Design, develop, and test new coatings systems and chemical titrations
  • Conduct research into the development or improvement of coatings process
  • Oversee all testing in relation to the e-coat and powder coat line
  • Supervise e-coat lab technicians
  • Establish and conduct quality control programs, operating procedures and control strategies to ensure consistency and adherence to standards for raw materials, products and waste products or emissions
  • Assist in paint line qualification
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28)
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems, HR policies and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Must work in accordance with H&S regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures

Work Environment
  • 50% Lab environment, 50% Plant floor (PPE required)
  • Constant communication with employees, peers and management
  • Overtime as required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less
