Job summary

Trophy Foods Inc. in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Product Developer to lead development from concept to launch. You will work with customer recipes, manage multiple projects, and coordinate plant trials to ensure scalable, compliant products.

Collaborating with Sales, Operations, Procurement, Packaging, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Finance, you will drive innovation while maintaining food safety and quality standards across private label snacks and related products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field; Master’s is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of product development experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food product manufacturing, including water activity, moisture, packaging, storage.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards is an asset.
  • Experience leading plant trials, scale-ups and commercialization.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. food regulations.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Creative and able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and reformulate products to meet sensory, nutrition, quality, cost and timeline targets.
  • Independently manage product development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Lead plant trials, coordinate first production runs, and develop manufacturing procedures.
  • Create and maintain detailed records of formulations, parameters, and nutritional information.
  • Conduct hands-on product testing, evaluation, and benchmarking.
  • Own end-to-end development activities, including lab work and inventory upkeep.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Material Planning to source ingredients and identify risks.
  • Support customer interactions with technical discussions, samples, and product modifications.
  • Input product formulations into Genesis or similar software to validate data and support regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor food trends and support innovation initiatives.
  • Support audits, investigations, and commercialization documentation.
