We’re looking for a Product Development Coordinator to join our team in support of one of Canada’s leading retailers. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career food science or nutrition graduate looking to build a career in food product development, regulatory compliance, and project management.

In this role, you’ll coordinate packaging and label redesign projects, manage product specifications, regulatory, artwork and online content reviews. Working closely with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams including Product Development, Compliance and Design Team Managers, your mission is to ensure products are launched on time, in alignment with all pre-existing strategy, while meeting all quality, regulatory, and brand standards.

If you’re a tech-savvy, detail-obsessed project manager with food industry knowledge, and exceptional organizational and communication skills, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:
Product Specification Management
  • Collaborate with vendors to update Private Brand product specifications within established timelines, with guidance from Product Development and Compliance. Detailed specifications include formula breakdowns, label claims and substantiation, nutritional lab analysis, technical documentation, and third-party recycling agency inputs on recycling standards.
  • Maintain the product specification database by ensuring specifications are accurately updated and set to active.
Regulatory & Artwork Support
  • Review technical product specifications to support label development.
  • Coordinate artwork review and approval with key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to ensure packaging complies with applicable food regulations and approved product specifications.
Project Management
  • Manage project timelines and critical paths from confirmation letter through launch, ensuring key milestones are met.
  • Coordinate activities across Vendor, third party recycling agency, Product Development, Regulatory, Sourcing, and Design Team.
  • Proactively identify risks, follow up on outstanding items, and keep projects moving forward.
Online Content Management
  • Coordinate with the third-party agency to track online content updates and ensure new artwork is published online
Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience in food product development, QA, regulatory affairs, or the food manufacturing/CPG industry is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new specification and artwork management systems.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and a willingness to learn.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of Canadian food regulations and food labelling requirements.
  • Familiarity with product specification management systems (e.g. HIVE, TraceGains, Genesis, etc.).
  • Experience with Nutrition Facts Tables, ingredient declarations, allergens, and product claims.
  • Exposure to private label products or consumer packaged goods.
Why You’ll Want This Job
  • Gain hands-on experience across product development, regulatory affairs, packaging, and commercialization.
  • Work on products that reach grocery shelves across Canada.
  • Collaborate with experienced Product Development, Regulatory, and Design professionals.
  • Grow your technical and project management skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for career advancement
