We are seeking a Technical Commercial Counsel to accelerate contract negotiation and deeply align legal strategy with our product, engineering, and security teams. This role is designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of law, technology, and business, and who can translate technical realities into negotiation levers and automated workflows. You will be critical in ensuring our agreements reflect both business objectives and the realities of building AI applications with private, secure data storage.

Review, draft, and negotiate MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, DPAs, and strategic partnership agreements. Align legal positions with product architecture, AI feature sets, and privacy / security commitments. Proactively shape negotiation strategies that balance risk, speed, and customer trust.

Identify bottlenecks in the contract lifecycle and automate repetitive legal workflows (e.g., CLM systems, contract templating, AI-powered redline suggestions). Design and implement automated processes for handling customer security questionnaires and compliance documentation. Integrate contract and questionnaire review processes with internal systems (CRM, issue tracking, compliance tools). Standardize templates and responses for customer requests to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Partner with Engineering to deeply understand security positioning, data flows, encryption standards, and private storage infrastructure. Ensure contract terms and compliance documentation accurately reflect and protect Fireflies’ AI product capabilities, limitations, and privacy commitments. Translate technical realities and product features into negotiation levers for sales, partnerships and customer compliance requests.

Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Security, and Product to ensure legal positions support business growth and customer compliance needs. Educate internal teams on best practices for managing security questionnaires, compliance-related inquiries, contractual obligations, and risk mitigation.

Monitor developments in AI regulation, data privacy (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001), and security compliance. Advise on how changing laws impact product design and customer agreements.

Requirements
  • JD or equivalent legal qualification and 3–5+ years’ experience in commercial contracts, preferably in SaaS or AI technology.
  • Strong technical fluency — able to read architecture docs, understand APIs, and converse with engineers about system design.
  • Experience with data privacy, AI ethics, and compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to automate legal workflows using scripting, CLM platforms, or AI tools.
  • Exceptional negotiation, writing, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup with high autonomy.
