Suncor Energy Inc. is hiring a Process Operator for the Sulfur Plant at the Montréal refinery. You will apply your chemical-process knowledge to safely maintain operations, respond to incidents, and support production in a unionized environment.
The role requires five years of relevant experience, a Class 4 static-equipment mechanic qualification or equivalent, French fluency, and a willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts including overtime as needed. Safety is a core focus.

Working at our Sulfur Plant within our Montréal refinery has a lot of perks. You get to use your technical skills and knowledge to safely and reliably maintain the operation of processes to optimize production in an environmentally responsible manner. You will also become part of a highly motivated team of professionals working at a sulfur plant that produces liquid sulfur and sodium bisulfide.
Five years of relevant work experience in chemical processes and/or a DEC or AEC (diploma or attestation of college studies) in chemical process techniques or the equivalent
A Class 4 (or higher) static-equipment mechanic’s qualification card/certificate or to obtain it as a condition of employment
A valid driver’s licence

Strong proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions
The ability to collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
Conduct quality-control rounds and sampling at regular intervals with a critical eye for the operational process and equipment in use by demonstrating operational discipline
Monitor the status of current maintenance work regularly
Participate in unit and equipment shutdowns
Respond to emergencies and/or upset conditions in the units following established procedures
Operate the Control Board
Take samples and perform light maintenance work
Take action to resolve potential problems as soon as they are identified
Conduct pipe alignments, maintenance and all other tasks required to ensure smooth operations
Carried out truck and rail tanker loading/unloading
You will work at our Sulfur Plant within our Montréal refinery, located at 11450 rue Cherrier Montréal-east
Rotating day and night shift schedule, consisting of 12-hour shifts
You will need to be available to work overtime when required
This position is safety sensitive
You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, make use of ladders, and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers, with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
This is a unionized role
