Job summary

Suncor Energy in Port Moody, BC, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production assets at our Burrard Terminal. You will troubleshoot, plan repairs, and support maintenance while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Join a team focused on asset reliability, safety, and continuous improvement, with a 40-hour week and a safety-sensitive role at the Burrard Products terminal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or materials engineering.
• PE designation or EIT registration with EGBC.
• 1–4 years of engineering, reliability, maintenance and operations support experience.
• Strong safety, regulatory and industry standards knowledge with EH&S familiarity.
• Strong business processes and technical skills.
• Strong collaboration to resource priorities safely and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities

• Daily interface with Production Unit Teams to troubleshoot issues and maintain asset performance.
• Develop repair and replacement scopes for equipment failures and urgent maintenance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for unplanned maintenance in collaboration with specialists.
• Support daily operating orders, production planning and performance monitoring.
• Manage threats to availability via problem-solving, prioritization and investigations.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to prioritize work with plans and outages.
• Lead or support incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Improve asset reliability by identifying issues and embedding safety and OEMS standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or materials engineering
• Professional Engineer designation or Engineer-in-Training registration with EGBC.
• One to four years of relevant experience in engineering, reliability, maintenance, and operations support within industry
• Strong knowledge of safety, regulatory, and industry standards/codes, with familiarity in EH&S best practices and asset reliability
• Strong business processes & technical skills
• Strong collaboration skills to effectively resource priorities safely and cost-effectively

Responsibilities:

• Daily interface with Production Unit Teams to troubleshoot issues, maintain asset performance, and address short-cycle availability threats
• Develop repair and replacement scopes of work for equipment failures and urgent maintenance needs
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for unplanned corrective maintenance in collaboration with specialists
• Support daily operating orders, production planning, proactive operator monitoring, and follow-up on performance deviations
• Manage and resolve threats to availability through problem-solving, prioritization, action tracking, and investigative inquiry methods
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to prioritize maintenance work in line with long-range plans, outages, and lookahead schedules
• Lead or support incident investigations, risk assessments, short-term management of change processes, and root cause analysis for asset failures
• Improve asset reliability and operational excellence by identifying bad actors, supporting performance trending, developing outage scopes, and embedding safety, environmental, and OEMS standards into maintenance activities

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
