Job summary

Suncor is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production assets at the Burrard Terminal in Port Moody, BC. You’ll provide technical engineering support for troubleshooting, repair planning, maintenance execution, and reliability improvements with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a mechanical or materials background, plus 1–4 years in engineering, maintenance, and reliability, with strong safety and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or materials engineering.
  • Professional Engineer designation or Engineer-in-Training registration with EGBC.
  • 1–4 years of experience in engineering, reliability, maintenance, and operations support.
  • Knowledge of safety, regulatory standards/codes, EH&S best practices, and asset reliability.
  • Strong business processes & technical skills.
  • Strong collaboration to resource priorities safely and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Daily interface with Production Unit Teams to troubleshoot issues and maintain asset performance.
  • Develop repair and replacement scopes of work for equipment failures and urgent maintenance needs.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for unplanned corrective maintenance with specialists.
  • Support daily operating orders, production planning, and monitoring of performance deviations.
  • Manage threats to availability through problem solving, action tracking, and investigations.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to prioritize work with long-range plans.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, risk assessments, and change management.
  • Embed safety, environmental, and OEMS standards into maintenance activities.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or materials engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation or Engineer-in-Training registration with EGBC.
  • One to four years of relevant experience in engineering, reliability, maintenance, and operations support within industry
  • Strong knowledge of safety, regulatory, and industry standards/codes, with familiarity in EH&S best practices and asset reliability
  • Strong business processes & technical skills
  • Strong collaboration skills to effectively resource priorities safely and cost-effectively

Responsibilities:
  • Daily interface with Production Unit Teams to troubleshoot issues, maintain asset performance, and address short-cycle availability threats
  • Develop repair and replacement scopes of work for equipment failures and urgent maintenance needs
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for unplanned corrective maintenance in collaboration with specialists
  • Support daily operating orders, production planning, proactive operator monitoring, and follow-up on performance deviations
  • Manage and resolve threats to availability through problem-solving, prioritization, action tracking, and investigative inquiry methods
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to prioritize maintenance work in line with long-range plans, outages, and lookahead schedules
  • Lead or support incident investigations, risk assessments, short-term management of change processes, and root cause analysis for asset failures
  • Improve asset reliability and operational excellence by identifying bad actors, supporting performance trending, developing outage scopes, and embedding safety, environmental, and OEMS standards into maintenance activities

  • You will work out of our Burrard Products terminal officelocatedat 1155GlenayreDrive, Port Moody, British Columbia
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • Our engineering roles follow internal compensationguidelines,and the pay band willgenerally bebased years of experience and scope of work
