Job summary

J.D. Irving, Limited invites applications for a Process Engineering Student co‑op role based in Saint John, New Brunswick. You will assist with process improvements, data analysis, and technical problem solving to support operations and continuous improvement.

The position offers mentorship from experienced engineers, exposure to real-world engineering challenges, and the possibility of housing funding for eligible candidates. The term ranges from 4 to 8 months, starting in Winter 2026.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with data analysis tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Collect and analyze production data to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support trials and experiments on the production floor, including documentation and reporting.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
• Participate in cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
• Assist with equipment troubleshooting and process optimization.
• Contribute to sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
• Support KPI reporting by gathering data, updating dashboards, and analyzing trends.
• Present findings and recommendations to engineering and operations teams.
