Qualifications

We are seeking a Private Wealth Manager to support our team in Ontario. This role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in advancing their expertise in cross-border tax planning and implementation for individuals, trusts, estates, and business structures.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Manage client relationships to meet or exceed expectations, adhering to contractual obligations and relationship standards.
  2. Coordinate client onboarding, plan development, meetings, and correspondence throughout all relationship phases.
  3. Act as liaison, team leader, and advocate for clients within the organization and with external providers to ensure financial plans are implemented effectively and aligned with client goals.
  4. Conduct regular reviews (annual or semi-annual) and prepare review modules for ongoing client relationship management.
  5. Coordinate tax and investment processes with internal and external professionals, ensuring compliance with client agreements and standards.
  6. Follow firm standards for financial planning advice and coordinate with Client Relationship Specialists on onboarding and administrative tasks.
  7. Perform peer reviews of financial plans, especially those involving tax planning.
Tax Compliance Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and review U.S. Federal, State, Canadian Federal, and Provincial income and estate tax returns, including personal, trust, and entity returns.
  2. Develop tax projections and planning reports.
  3. Research tax issues and support client tax planning and compliance needs.
  4. Ensure timely and complete delivery of tax documents to clients.
  5. Prepare and review financial statements for tax purposes, reconciling data as needed.
  6. Manage responses to IRS audits and CRA reviews, coordinating efforts and monitoring outcomes.
  7. Identify tax issues and opportunities, documenting findings and recommendations.
  8. Maintain proficiency with relevant tax software and related technologies.
  9. Oversee tax administration and coordinate with external resources for compliance projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • CPA, CA, or LLM; CFP certification in Canada and/or the US.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tax planning or compliance in the US and Canada.
  • Knowledge of income, gift, estate taxes, investments, employee benefits, insurance, and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, process management, and analytical skills, with attention to detail and proactive follow-through.
