We are seeking a Private Wealth Manager to support our team in Ontario. This role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in advancing in cross-border tax planning and implementation for individuals, trusts, estates, and business structures.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Manage client relationships to meet or exceed expectations, adhering to contractual agreements and relationship standards.
  2. Coordinate client onboarding, plan development, meetings, and correspondence throughout all relationship phases.
  3. Act as the liaison, team leader, and advocate for clients within the organization and with external providers to ensure effective implementation of financial plans.
  4. Conduct regular reviews (annual or semi-annual) and prepare review modules for assigned clients.
  5. Coordinate tax and investment processes with internal and external professionals, ensuring alignment with client contracts and standards.
  6. Provide financial planning advice in accordance with firm standards and client needs.
  7. Collaborate with the Client Relationship Specialist on onboarding and administrative tasks.
  8. Perform peer reviews of financial plans, focusing on tax planning.
Tax Compliance Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and review U.S. Federal, State, Canadian Federal and Provincial Income and Estate Tax returns.
  2. Develop tax projections and planning reports.
  3. Research tax issues and support tax planning and compliance efforts.
  4. Ensure timely and complete delivery of tax documents to clients.
  5. Prepare financial statements for tax purposes, using QuickBooks or Excel, and reconcile tax data.
  6. Handle responses to IRS audits and CRA reviews, managing the process to successful resolution.
  7. Identify tax issues and communicate opportunities effectively.
  8. Maintain proficiency with relevant tax software and tools.
  9. Oversee tax administration and coordinate with outsourced resources for compliance.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s Degree.
  2. CPA, CA, or LLM required; CFP designation in Canada and/or the US preferred.
  3. Minimum of 5 years experience in tax planning or compliance in the US and Canada.
  4. Understanding of income, gift, estate taxes, investments, benefits, insurance, and wealth transfer strategies.
  5. Strong interpersonal, process management, and analytical skills with attention to detail.

This is an exempt role with a base salary of CA$200,000 or $150,000, depending on experience and location. Total compensation may include other benefits.
