Job summary

Tempo Flexible Packaging is seeking a skilled Printing Press Operator to join our on-site team. You will review schedules, set up presses, manage materials, and ensure output aligns with docket details and customer specifications.

You will lead Printing Press Assistants, maintain quality through color accuracy checks, and perform routine maintenance. Reliable commuting is required, with a focus on safety and teamwork to meet daily production targets.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Solid understanding of math and measurements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Keen eye for colour accuracy and detail.
  • Flexographic printing experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to work – own transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily schedules and dockets to determine production, film, inputs, and correct press machines for output.
  • Confirm all supplies and materials are correct and prepared for production, while performing roll and job checks for quality standards.
  • Use Tori to access and enter information for production into the press, system and colour measures; scan UPC and colours accurately per roll.
  • Ensure printed material matches the docket as well as art and customer specifications, while monitoring cameras and roll geometry.
  • Lead a team of Printing Press Assistants and provide guidance and development opportunities.
  • Prepare upcoming scheduled jobs in advance to reduce production gaps.
  • Clean blades, pans, floor and press, and perform light maintenance.
  • Assist other Printing Press Operators or Assistants as necessary.
  • Complete related paperwork and/or computer work for jobs.
  • Review, update or create process-control reports and verify information for orders.

About The Role:

What You'll Do:
  • Review daily schedules and dockets to determine production, film, inputs, and correct press machines for output, setting up the press to correspond with the information on the docket including sleeves and carries if needed.
  • Confirm all supplies and materials are correct and prepared for production, while performing roll and job checks for quality standards, assigning jobs for the Printing Press Assistants when needed.
  • Use Tori to access and enter information for production into the press, system and colour measures; scan UPC and colours accurately per roll.
  • Ensure printed material matches the docket as well as art and customer specifications, while monitoring cameras, monitoring the camera and roll geometry frequently.
  • Lead a team of Printing Press Assistants and ensure they remain on task, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Prepare upcoming scheduled jobs in advance of the current job completion to reduce production gaps.
  • Clean blades, pans floor and press, and other light maintenance duties on the press as needed.
  • Aid other Printing Press Operators or Printing Press Assistants as necessary.
  • Complete any related paperwork and/or computer work for jobs.
  • Review, update or create process‑control reports and verify correct information for the order and future subsequential orders.
  • Setup machine as per process control and fine tunes the machine, so it is running at maximum output without jeopardizing quality or output.
  • Assists with and performs set‑ups on machines and makes sure equipment is at machine one hour before the set‑up.
  • Identifies when machines need repair and write work orders or perform repairs if it is a minor maintenance issue; troubleshoots issues on the machines.
  • Protect the health and safety of yourself and others by performing safety circle checks on equipment, creating work orders to repair damaged equipment, and keeping common workstations and areas clean.
  • Work as a team to overcome shift obstacles, exceed daily department targets and celebrate team successes.
  • Promote Tempo’s core values by working within all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required by the Print Operations Manager and Supervisor.
Schedule:

Our Flex‑Life Schedule is designed to give you more time off, without sacrificing full‑time pay:

  • 12‑hour shifts, 3 days per week
  • Rotating every 2 weeks days and nights (7:00am to 7:00pm AND 7:00pm to 7:00am)
  • Work 36 hours per week, be eligible to be paid for 40 hours
  • 16 days off a month!
