Job summary

ProAmpac Bellepak Ltd is seeking a skilled Press Operator to operate and maintain our 10-colour flexographic printing presses in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will drive continuous improvement, ensure safety, and deliver high-quality printed rolls for customer specifications.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of five years’ experience as a press operator, familiarity with color matching using X-Rite, and a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years' experience as a press operator.
  • Experience with 10-colour flexographic presses preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow job specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust 10-colour flexographic printing presses, install plates and cylinders, adjust pressure for alignment.
  • Maintain running conditions, monitor for defects, and inspect rolls for contaminants.
  • Use camera spot check system to verify color accuracy and register prints.
  • Ensure ink viscosity and flow are correct; maintain automatic viscosity control.
  • Check rollers and dryers; keep press area clean and safe for shift handoffs.
  • Take samples for testing and ensure product meets customer specifications.

Do you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and take pride in producing high-quality work? We’re looking for a skilled Press Operator to operate and maintain our 10-colour flexographic printing presses while driving continuous improvement and delivering exceptional results.

What you will do:
  • Setting up and adjusting 10 colour flexographic printing press machines: Installing printing plates and cylinders, adjusting pressure and ensuring proper alignment and registration.
  • Maintain a constant check on all running conditions of the machine and the job being printed.
  • Watches for print defects or spills caused by a doctor blade failure and removes the current produced roll and inspects for metal contaminants least three times (few minutes each) for every printed roll utilizing the camera spot check detection system.
  • Verifies the repeat length at the end of each print roll.
  • Maintains proper ink viscosity, proper ink levels and flow of every ink pump being used, set up and maintain automatic viscosity control system.
  • Checks that all rollers and B.C. dryers are working properly, clean & free of obstructions.
  • Indicates all defects in a roll by using flags and reporting.
  • Press Operator must be able to remove the defects before sending to next process.
  • Checks the treat or saran coating of each roll after running a mill roll splice.
  • Takes samples of each printed roll for testing, using x-rite to set, monitor colors to customer specification and future references.
  • Ensures press and related areas are clean and in good order for the incoming shift.
  • Perform all duties as outlined in the job description and any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Work Schedule:

This role operates on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, alternating between day shifts (6:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m.) and night shifts (6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.) over a four-week cycle, with scheduled days off included. The rotation provides variety in your schedule while allowing time to rest and recharge between shifts.

Reports to working area at least 15 minutes prior to shift start for a smooth transition.

Physical demands include lifting up to 40 pounds, walking/standing for long periods of time.
