Job summary

Labelink Inc. is seeking a motivated trainee to learn press operation and setup in a hands-on capacity at our Mississauga facility. You’ll work on one- and multi-color productions, install plates, die-cuts, and perform safe setup per ticket specifications while maintaining quality standards.

You will gain exposure to 1–6 color runs, 4-color process development, and ongoing wash-up/cleanup tasks, with training support from lead hands and management. Strong safety and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Good attention to detail, mechanically and technically inclined.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and be teachable.
  • Good reading and comprehension in English and/or French.
  • Flexible to work weekends and overtime when required.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for 8 hours in a shift.

Responsibilities

  • Learn safety features on the press and understand electrical and press components.
  • Read job tickets to confirm components needed to set up the job.
  • Set up the press by installing stock, die, plates, and perform safe adjustments.
  • Enter codes on console and follow procedures per quality system.
  • Run 1- and 6-color jobs, and learn 4-color process and spot colors.
  • Verify final proofs and match plates to the correct ticket.
  • Perform wash-up and clean the press with assistance from the Press Helper.
  • Perform related production tasks as needed by Lead Hand or management.

Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Learn all safety features (nip points etc.) on the press as well as electrical and press components.
  • Read, examine and understand various section of the job ticket detailing the customer specifications to confirm components needed to set up the job.
  • Learn how to set up the press by installing: stock; die; mounting and setting printing plates on cylinders and anilox safely; install and remove doctor blades safely;
  • Learn how to key in codes etc. on console keyboard/touchscreen of computerized press.
  • Read operating procedure to ensure job duties and processes follow the quality management system and operates press accordingly.
  • Learn how to and runs 1 color, up to 6-color jobs and 1 ply.in the first 6-12 months.
  • Learn 4-color process and 1-2 spot colors.
  • Learn how to die-cut, troubleshoot and set tension.
  • Verify final proof approved by customer.
  • Identification of product on ticket (regular or pharmaceutical)
  • Verification of the related die on the ticket and proceed to die transfer to the appropriate press - removal of yellow circle on the board
  • Transmit tickets and records relative to the customer’s plates to press operator - removal of green circle
  • Perform wash-up as necessary and clean the press and remove accessories with the assistance of the Press Helper.
Post production:
  • Learn how to remove components after press run.
  • Store and file plate records
  • Remove order from the board when printing is finished
  • Recover and clean cylinders and other components removed from the press.
  • Verify plate condition and proceed to storage
  • Does wash-up and cleans the press and components.
  • Matching of plate file with the related semi-finished product
  • Pick up dirty rags
  • Performs any other production related work assignment as requested by the Lead Hand or production management.
Education & Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a printing plant
  • Good attention to detail, mechanically and technical inclined
  • Must be able to follow instructions and teachable
  • Good reading and comprehension in English and or French.
  • Methodical and organized person
  • Flexibility able to work weekend and overtime when required.
  • Efficiency; Observation skills
  • Must have good vision and able to differentiate colors
  • Excellent quality driven work habits
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and to stand for 8 hours in a shift
  • Good team work and attitude.
