About the Role

Collins Aerospace in Ottawa is a leader in wireless communications networking, developing next-generation HF radios, Software Defined Radio waveforms, and ad-hoc wireless networks. We seek a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team, working under technical leadership as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities

1. Provide engineering leadership interfacing with customers, business development, and program managers.
2. Drive pursuits and prepare technical proposals for RFIs and RFPs.
3. Set technical direction aligned with business goals.
4. Interface with customers to determine project requirements.
5. Track and analyze program performance metrics, recommending staffing or schedule adjustments as needed.
6. Develop and execute program plans, ensuring projects stay within budget and schedule.
7. Serve as the technical point of contact for medium to high complexity programs.
8. Lead proposal efforts and represent the company to customers when necessary.
9. Travel up to 10% as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with at least 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
• Canadian Citizenship and eligibility for a Canadian secret security clearance.
• Experience in data communications and networking design and implementation.
• Understanding of RF communications system architecture.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with military and commercial avionics communication systems.
• Knowledge of ad-hoc networking, cryptographic architectures, forward error correction, data-link protocols, and system analysis and modeling.
