Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Principal Project Planner to lead scheduling on large-scale EPC/EPCM projects in Edmonton, AB. The role requires deep expertise in schedule development, interface management, and governance for major capital programs in oil & gas, LNG, pipelines, and mining infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have +15 years of planning experience on mega projects, strong Primavera P6 skills, and certifications such as PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE PSP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE PSP certification preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive planning experience on major EPC/EPCM capital projects (> $500M value).

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of integrated Level 1–4 EPC/EPCM schedules for major capital projects.
  • Lead and facilitate structured interactive planning sessions with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Client stakeholders to collaboratively develop the project execution logic.
  • Provide schedule strategy during proposal, FEED, and execution phases.
  • Develop detailed engineering work plans aligned with discipline deliverables.
  • Build engineering progress measurement systems (weighted milestones, earned value).
  • Align engineering schedule with procurement material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor data requirements.
  • Develop procurement schedules including Long-lead equipment, bulk materials, module fabrication, and overseas manufacturing.
  • Develop Construction & Commissioning Schedule based on construction work packaging, area-based and system-based sequencing, and modularization strategies.
  • Ensure consistency between EPCM master schedule and contractor schedules.
  • Conduct schedule risk analysis (SRA) and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis.
  • Lead time impact analysis (TIA) and forensic schedule assessments.
  • Develop recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Support claims avoidance and dispute resolution through defensible scheduling practices.

Job description

Airswift is seeking a Project Planner to work on a long-term contract with a major EPC in Edmonton, AB. This invdividual will be assigned to a project in the petrochemical industry and will be expected to be a highly experienced and technically accomplished Principal Project Planner to lead planning and scheduling functions on large-scale, complex Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC/EPCM) projects. This role requires a strategic-level planner with deep expertise in major project schedule development, execution planning, interface management, and integrated schedule governance with strong exposure to oil & gas, pipelines, LNG, and mining infrastructure projects.

Multi-office and multi-country execution environments. Proven track record in mega-project planning leadership.

Technical and Industry Experience

+15 Years of Progressive Planning Experience, including: Major EPC or EPCM capital projects (> $500M value). Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 (Enterprise environment). Experience with integrated cost & schedule (EVM). Schedule Risk Analysis tools (e.g., Primavera Risk Analysis). Deep understanding of Interface milestone management and Construction work packaging.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline. PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE PSP certification preferred.
