The Principal Designer is a project-based role and will work under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, primarily developing conceptual plant designs for project implementation.

The tasks you'll perform

• Assist with developing man-hour budgets and design schedules for Study/EPCM estimates.
• Facilitate design reviews through the development stages of the project design.
• Demonstrate understanding of fabrication and construction techniques in the materials handling industry.
• Review and interpret vendor certified drawings and data.
• Manage review of vendor documentation and dissemination to discipline engineers/drafting resources.
• Manage multi-discipline design and drafting resources to meet deliverables and budgets.
• Resolve disputes within your discipline.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant standards and procedures.
• Compile project reports accurately and professionally.
• Support team members' professional development through mentoring.
• Monitor project design team performance and provide feedback.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Suggest operational efficiency improvements.
• Maintain high communication within the Engineering - Design team.
• Provide leadership and guidance as required.
• Travel as needed for business operations.
