Job summary

New Vision Family Health Team in Kitchener, Ontario, is hiring a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) for permanent, full- or part-time hours (0.6–1.0 FTE). The MOA will support clinicians, prepare patients, take vital signs, and maintain clinical documentation in the EMR.

Responsibilities include infection control, room maintenance, and collaboration with physicians and the interprofessional team. The position offers HOOPP, extended healthcare, PTO, sick days, and professional development support.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Current BLS/CPR.
  • Criminal Record Check completed.
  • Health screening requirements (MMR, Tdap, Varicella, Hepatitis B).
  • Minimum one year of experience in a primary care or clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems an asset.
  • Strong communication, time management, organization, and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centred care in a respectful and compassionate manner.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for physical examinations and treatment procedures.
  • Perform full vital signs and gather relevant clinical information at each visit.
  • Identify and communicate any concerns related to patient health to the clinical team.
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures or other treatments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and concise documentation of patient interactions in the EMR.
  • Maintain clean and well-stocked exam and procedure rooms.
  • Adhere to universal precautions and infection prevention and control guidelines.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous and infectious waste in accordance with protocols.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, nurses, allied health providers, and administrative staff.
