Job summary

Montreal Lake Child and Family Agency Inc. seeks two Prevention Workers to support youth wellbeing and social functioning, and to assist those affected by family crises.

Duties include personal coaching with educators, crisis intervention, and referral to community resources. Qualifications include experience with youth and families, knowledge of First Nations culture, and willingness to work evenings and weekends in Montreal Lake 106A or Little Red 106B; CPIC and Vulnerable Sector checks

Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience in working with youth and families.
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and Saskatchewan Child Welfare Act.
  • Must understand Woodland Cree language and have knowledge of First Nations culture, practices, protocols, customs.
  • Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Willing to work in Montreal Lake 106A or Little Red 106B.
  • Not actively involved with a First Nations Child & Family Agency and/or Department of Social Services as a client.
  • Must submit a CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check upon hiring.
  • Commitment to personal wellness.

MLCFA is looking to fill two positions for Prevention Workers. These roles are to provide support services that will enhance the well‑being and social functioning of youth, as well as provide support for those who have been affected by individual or family crisis. Components of the prevention model include personal coaching services with educators; personal crisis intervention, support and assistance, including referral to appropriate professional and community resources.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess acceptable combinations of education and experience in working with youth and families.
  • BSW/BISW or related discipline in human or social services is a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of the FSIN Indian Child and Family Support Act and Saskatchewan Child Welfare Act.
  • Must understand the Woodland Cree language and have extensive knowledge of First Nations culture, practices, protocols, customs, and belief systems.
  • Drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing to work in Montreal Lake 106A or Little Red 106B.
  • Must not be actively involved with a First Nations Child & Family Agency and/or Department of Social Services as a client receiving Family Services and/or Child Protection Services.
  • Must be willing to submit a current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check upon hiring.
  • Must possess a strong commitment to personal wellness.
