Job summary

Active Start Childcare in Calgary, AB, seeks a Lead Educator for our Preschool program at the Sage Hill NW location. The ideal candidate has strong child development knowledge, engagement skills, and leadership abilities; must be Alberta Child Care certified levels 2 or 3, with current clearances and first aid.

You will create engaging programming, lead classroom activities, and maintain safety and communication with families. Join a team focused on inclusive, active learning in all weather.

Qualifications

• Prior childcare/daycare experience required, preferably Preschool experience.
• Level 2 or 3 Alberta Child Care Certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Fluent in English.
• Proficiency with computer applications and administrative systems.
• Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations preferred.
• Current Criminal Record Check and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Creating and implementing engaging programming tailored to the interests and needs of the children.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the environment.
• Leading and supporting children in integrated learning and recreational activities.
• Actively supervising and engaging with children while ensuring their well-being.
• Providing regular communication to parents through monthly newsletters and daily updates.
• Cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Participating in professional development initiatives.
• Adhering to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Active Start's policies and procedures to ensure quality care.
