Job summary

Active Start Child Care in Calgary is seeking Educators for our Preschool and OSC programs at the Calgary South East Seton location.

The ideal candidate will have Alberta ECE Levels 1–3 (with experience), current First Aid & CPR Level C, a clean Vulnerable Sector Check, and strong English communication to engage children and families.

Qualifications

  • Alberta ECE Level 1, 2 or 3 certification (with experience).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills not only with children but also with families and colleagues.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and actively engage with children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool and OSC classrooms.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities supporting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and team members.
  • Observe and document children’s development and communicate progress with families and supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized classroom in accordance with Alberta Health Services and licensing requirements.
  • Ensure active supervision of children and follow health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain ratios and participate in staff meetings and training.

About the Role

We are looking for Educators for our Preschool and OSC programs at our Calgary South East Seton Active Start location. We are looking for candidates who possesses a strong understanding of child development, exceptional engagement skills, and a dedication to fostering positive relationships with both children and colleagues. The ideal candidates will be dependable, adaptable, fluent in English, and exhibit outstanding communication and multitasking abilities. Prior experience is required, and candidates must possess Alberta Child Care certification levels 1 (with experience), 2, or 3, along with current criminal record check (with vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool and OSC classrooms.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and team members.
  • Observe and document children’s development and communicate progress with families and supervisors.

Qualifications
  • Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 1, 2 or 3 (with experience) Certification (required).
  • Previous experience working with infants or young children in a licensed childcare setting is preferred.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
  • Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Alberta Child Intervention Record Check.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta childcare licensing regulations and health and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring, dependable, and passionate about early childhood education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while taking initiative when needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs, sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
