Job summary

TELUS Health Care Centres in Toronto is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join the Executive Health program in a hybrid, full-time role. You will provide nursing support to clients and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, primarily via computer and phone contact.

The role emphasizes work-life balance with standard 8-4 hours, Monday to Friday. You will engage in triage, documentation, referrals, and vaccine administration when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Must have current Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) license in Ontario.
• BLS/First Aid CPR certification required.
• Ability to follow Medical Directives for vaccines and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Triages clients with primary care concerns and flags urgent issues to Medical Director and Clinic Operations Manager.
• Interacts with patients by phone and communicates test results.
• Performs administrative tasks: scheduling, faxing, reviewing lab results, and discussing diagnostics with clients via EMR.
• Processes referrals and tracks status.
• Acts as clinical resource and trains new staff as appropriate.
• Possible blood draws and vaccine administration in Executive Health clinic.
• Adheres to medical directives, policies, and procedures for high-quality care.
• Participates in training to stay updated on medicines and vaccines.
• Maintains clear, accountable documentation per Company and CNO standards.
• Provides individualized risk assessment and health-related risk information.
• Orders and restocks medical supplies and handouts.
• Serves as clinical resource during critical situations.
• Follows up with physicians, patients, and Team Manager as needed.

Our Team And What We’ll Accomplish Together

We are expanding! Under the direction of the Clinic Operations Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse (Concierge Medicine) will be responsible for providing high quality care services for the Executive Health program. As a Registered Practical Nurse you will be providing nursing support directly to clients and alongside the interdisciplinary team to help coordinate and manage their care. The successful candidate will primarily interact with patients through computer and telephone contact. The hours of work are 8:00 am-4:00 pm Monday to Friday. What You’ll Do

• Triaging clients who have primary care concerns and recognizing red flags that require urgent care while properly taking a history and communicating that to Medical Director and Clinic Operations Manager for review
• Interacting with patients on the phone and communicating results
• Fulfilling administrative tasks such as making appointments, faxing, reviewing lab results, discussing diagnostic results with clients and EMR
• Proficient in processing referrals and keeping track of referrals
• Act as a clinical resource to staff and be willing to train new staff as appropriate
• Potential to do blood drawing and administer vaccines in Executive Health clinic
• Thorough understanding of medical directives, guidelines, policies and procedures to provide the highest quality of care to clients
• Diligently participate in the company's training to ensure up to date knowledge of medicine and vaccination
• Ensure clear and accountable documentation practices following accepted Company and CNO standards
• Provide individualized risk assessment and risk management information, as it relates to general health
• Order medical and health related supplies and restock handouts (photocopies, requisitions etc.)
• Act as the clinical resource for staff and clients during critical clinical situations
• Follow-up with the physician, the patient and Team Manager where appropriate

Qualifications

What you bring

• Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) certification with current license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• First Aid/BLS CPR certified and up to date
• Ability to follow Medical Directives in order to safely administer vaccines to comply with the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Company Health Group standard of care
• Excellent skills in paying attention to detail
• Demonstrated professionalism and ability to communicate effectively with corporate clients
• Work well under pressure and can demonstrate a sense of urgency in completing time sensitive tasks
• Able to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative and good judgement
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Experience in case management would be an asset
