Job summary

Finning is seeking a Powertrain Assembly Technician - Level 1 in Edmonton to assemble Caterpillar powertrain components, including brakes, planetary groups, clutches, and final drives.

The role requires reading OEM specifications, adhering to safety and quality standards, and working on an afternoon shift (10 hours per shift) under a unionized environment. Relevant experience and an ability to lift up to 40 pounds are essential.

Qualifications

  • This role requires 6 months+ in Wage Grade 7 or higher or equivalent external experience.
  • Experience with heavy equipment powertrain components is preferred.
  • Ability to read OEM specifications and follow quality metrics.

Job description

Position Overview

As a Powertrain Assembly Technician - Level 1, you will be responsible for the assembly of Caterpillar powertrain components including brakes, planetary groups, clutches, and final drives. You will leverage your mechanical experience in combination with your safety focus to produce quality products in a timely manner.

Job Description
  • Responsible for assembling components in the powertrain category in accordance with OEM specifications, standard hours, and quality metrics
  • Must be capable of assembling powertrain components with minimal supervision
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 7 or higher. Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.
  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.
  • Previous experience working on heavy equipment powertrain components
  • Understanding of powertrain components
  • Understanding of proper torquing procedures
  • Capable of operating basic service tools as well as all critical analog measuring devices including dial bore gauges and micrometers is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow work instructions.
  • Completion of any automotive or HD technician apprenticeship training is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.
  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures.
Note
  • This posting is for a static afternoon shift scheduled Monday - Thursday; 10 hours per shift
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
Hourly Rate

Hourly Rate: $42.44 - $53.05 / Hour
