Job summary

O.E.M. Remanufacturing Company Inc. in Edmonton is hiring a Service Bay Technician to disassemble, inspect, and assemble Caterpillar and other engine components. You will assess part reusability and work with service letters to meet OEM standards.

The role requires experience with heavy equipment engines, precision tools, and following activity scopes. Ability to work independently or with a team, with safety as a priority, and English communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and safety awareness.
  • Completion of automotive or heavy-duty technician apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, and assemble heavy equipment engines and components.
  • Evaluate reusability of parts for non-standard jobs.
  • Follow OEM standards and repair scopes to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Technical Services to prepare parts for diagnosing failures.
  • Review documentation and log job progress accurately.

Position Overview

The Service Bay Technician is responsible for the disassembly, inspection and assembly of all Caterpillar and other Repair and Return engine components.

Job Description
  • Perform disassembly, assist with failure analysis, component/part inspection, and complete assembly of heavy equipment engines
  • Determine the reusability of parts for all non-standard jobs
  • Utilize documentation such as service letters and service magazines to ensure compliance to current OEM standards; work within the repair and return setting to meet customer requirements regarding additional salvage opportunities, expanded parts re-use, and accurate parts and labour quotation
  • Work with the Technical Services team to help prepare parts for the purpose of diagnosing component failures
  • Review and process documentation per company standards and be able to understand and follow scopes of repair for each process step
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 9 or higher. Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.
  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.
  • Experience in the heavy equipment engine field, working on preferably Caterpillar components (disassembly, inspection, assembly, service bay, or test).
  • Proven ability to effectively use precision measuring tools, hand and power tools, and follow instruction using assembly manuals
  • Proven ability to navigate through software programs such as EBOM system, efficiently and effectively logging job progress and ownership
  • Strong organizational skills and safety awareness with the ability to safely adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to understand and follow scope of repair process and identify scope adjustments is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to create a safe and positive work environment
  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.
  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Completion of any automotive or HD technician apprenticeship training is preferred.
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures
Note

This posting is for two positions: one for a static afternoon shift, Monday - Thursday, 10 hours per shift; And one for a static weekend shift, Friday - Sunday, 12 hours per shift.

Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

Hourly Rate

$44.56 - $56.23 / Hour
