OEM Remanufacturing Company Inc. in Canada seeks a Powertrain Service Bay Technician - Journeyperson to disassemble, inspect and assemble Caterpillar powertrain components such as transmissions, differentials, clutches, final drives and brakes.

You must hold a HET Journeyperson ticket or interprovincial Red Seal, have multiple years of heavy equipment powertrain experience, and be able to read technical drawings.

Position Overview

The Powertrain Service Bay Technician - Journeyperson is responsible for the disassembly, inspection and assembly of all Powertrain Components including but not limited to transmissions, differentials, torques, clutches, final drives, and brakes. This includes any standard, non-standard and repair and return sales levels.

Job Description
  • Disassembly, inspection and assembly of all Caterpillar Powertrain Components including but not limited to transmissions, differentials, torques, clutches, final drives, and brakes
  • Utilization of CAT SIS 2.0 to research parts information, service letters and service magazines
  • Work within the repair and return setting to meet customer requirements regarding additional salvage opportunities, expanded parts re-use and accurate parts and labour quotation
  • Work with tech services to diagnose component failure and prepare service report for customer
  • Ability to read and interpret various types of technical drawings
  • Utilizing internal computer programs to categorize all parts, complete online learning modules, send emails, view technical drawings etc.
Qualifications
  • HET Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required
  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C
  • Multiple years’ experience in the heavy equipment powertrain field, working on preferably Caterpillar components (disassembly, inspection, assembly, service bay, or test)
  • Proven ability to effectively use precision measuring tools, hand and power tools, and follow instruction using assembly manuals
  • Proven ability to navigate through software programs such as EBOM system, efficiently and effectively logging job progress and ownership
  • Strong organizational skills and safety awareness with the ability to safely adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to understand and follow scope of repair process and identify scope adjustments as necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to create a safe and positive work environment
  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively
  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures
Note
  • This posting is for a static afternoon shift scheduled Monday – Thursday; 10 hours per shift
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

  • Hourly Rate: $53.05 – 56.23 / Hour
