ABB in Canada seeks an Electrical Engineer to act as design authority for power systems. You will conduct technical studies, develop deliverables, and ensure compliance with specifications, quality and safety standards. The role is hybrid and focused on mining projects, with North American travel.

Requires 2–5 years in industrial electrification, OIQ membership or eligibility, and proficiency in French and English to communicate with clients and ABB teams across North America.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of related experience in industrial electrification projects and power semiconductors.
• Familiar with national codes and standards; OIQ member preferred.

• Perform technical studies with site validation: Short-circuit, Load flow, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Power Factor, Harmonics mitigation.
• Develop engineering deliverables: purchase specs, drawings, BOMs, electrical diagrams, test procedures, studies and records.
• Participate in factory acceptance tests, commissioning, and service power transformers.

You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.This position focuses on the power systems and requires good overall understanding of the entire electrical network and associated equipment.The work model for the role is: HybridThis role is contributing to the: MiningThis role reports to: Project Operations ManagerYou will be mainly accountable for:Perform technical studies with site validation: Short-circuit, Load flow, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Power Factor Compensation, Harmonics mitigation.Develop the relevant engineering deliverables, such as, equipment purchase specification, drawings, bill of material, electrical diagrams, test procedures, electrical studies and recordsKnowledge of High voltage substation, prefabricated E-houses, MV & LV switchgears, Variable frequency Drives, Control, Protection, Instrumentation, MCC transformers, motor generators, Auxiliary Systems and HVAC Systems is an assetParticipate in factory acceptance tests at vendors facilities, commissioning (Start-up) and Service power transformers.Qualifications for the role:Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering;2-5 years of related experience in the field of industrial electrification projects and power semiconductors applications;Availability to travel all-over North America.Member of OIQ;Familiar with national codes and standards;E3 Zuken / AutoCAD experience is an assetPower study tools experience (ETAP, Easy Power, Cyme, etc);Independent and proactive thinker, who Communicates effectively with customers, vendors and ABB personnel.Possess a sense of urgency/drive for results.Proficiency in French is mandatory, as well as English in order to communicate effectively with internal clients and partners located outside of Quebec.Why ABB?We empower you to take initiative, challenge ideas, and lead with confidence.
