Power Generation Field Service Technician

Description

We are seeking a Power Generation Field Service Technician to join our team in Ottawa. Cummins values a safety-first environment and offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for this position. Benefits start on day one.

Qualifications:

• Basic mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance skills.
• Experience with High Voltage / Low Voltage systems.
• Red Seal certification in Heavy Duty Mechanics (421A), Automotive (310S), or Truck Trailer (310T) is mandatory.
• Electrical knowledge and experience are assets.
• Reliability security clearance is an asset.
• Good customer relation skills.
• Valid local driver’s permit and a clean driver’s abstract.

This role may require licensing to comply with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain productive customer relationships, ensuring prompt service.
• Use specialized tools and documented procedures to diagnose and repair complex issues onsite.
• Perform preventative maintenance on power generation products in the field.
• Escalate unresolved issues, mentor technicians and apprentices, and review repair plans.
• Complete documentation accurately, including service worksheets and warranty claims.
• Participate in training to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper operation of service vehicles and tools.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and report incidents.

About the Role:

• Work on maintenance contracts, startups, and installations in Ottawa and surrounding areas.
• Regular hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility for 4x10 or 5x8 schedules and some weekend work.
• Starting hourly wage is $44, depending on experience.
