Job summary

Interior Health seeks a permanent full‑time Power Engineer 5 / Maintenance Worker V to join the Plant Services team in Williams Lake, BC. You will operate and maintain the power plant, supervise staff, and ensure safe, efficient facility operations.

You will hold a 5th Class Power Engineer certificate with Boiler Endorsement, a BC Class 5 license, and at least Grade 10 plus four years of related experience. Relocation housing is available if needed.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 plus four years' recent related experience.
  • Certificate of competency as a 5th Class Power Engineer with Boiler Endorsement recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License required.
  • Experience supervising Maintenance Workers or similar staff.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the power plant or low‑pressure steam plant to ensure boilers and electrical systems function reliably.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and trades‑level tasks in electrical, plumbing, painting as needed.
  • Supervise Maintenance Workers and other designated staff to maintain a safe, efficient facility.

Position Summary

We are seeking a permanent full time Power Engineer 5 / Maintenance Worker V to join our Plant Services team in Williams Lake, BC.

Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a community hospital within Interior Health and plays an important role in meeting the healthcare needs of the people in the Williams Lake and surrounding areas. Plant Services as a whole provides services and support for the safety and comfort of patients, staff, and visitors by maintaining the physical environment, grounds and systems.

Your Role:

As a Power Engineer | Maintenance Worker, you will be instrumental in operating and maintaining the power plant or low-pressure steam plant to ensure optimal functionality of boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power systems, and related equipment. Your responsibilities will include performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and trades duties approaching the journeyman level in areas such as electrical, plumbing, and painting, all while adhering to applicable codes and regulations. Additionally, you will supervise Maintenance Workers and other designated staff, contributing to a safe, efficient, and well-maintained facility environment.
