Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Plant Maintenance professional for the Victoria General Hospital site in Winnipeg. You will maintain and repair high pressure boilers, refrigeration compressors, air compressors, and related equipment to supply steam, chilled water, and emergency power.

Responsibilities include assisting the Chief Engineer with preventative and demand maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the plant, and performing assigned maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• Must follow safe work procedures.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a steam plant.
• Experience with instrumentation and industrial controls preferred.
• Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
• In accordance with the Regulations under the Power Engineers Act, a valid and current Manitoba Third Class Power Engineer's Certificate required.
• Instrument Technician, Millwright, Pipefitter, or Electrician licence an asset.

• Duty to the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Performs assigned maintenance work and provides assistance to support the maintenance of site as required.

Position Overview

• Instrument Technician, Millwright, Pipefitter, or Electrician licence an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Work area is subject to high temperature, humidity and noise.
• Must take extreme caution in performance of tasks as exposed to high pressure steam piping, rotating equipment and high voltages.
• Lifting heavy equipment and parts.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
