Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Power Engineer 4 for Dawson Creek and District Hospital. The PW4 will operate, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power systems, and related equipment, while supervising maintenance staff and coordinating contractors.

The role requires a 4th Class Power Engineer certificate, Grade 10 education with four years' related experience, and a valid BC driver's license.

Qualifications

  • 4th Class Power Engineer certification or higher.
  • Grade 10 education with 4 years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, repair and perform preventative maintenance on boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and related equipment.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on the facility's plant, buildings and equipment.
  • Supervise maintenance workers and designated staff; manage contractors and projects.

Job description

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Power Engineer to fill a position at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Power Engineer 4 (PW4) operates, repairs and carries out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility. Performs mechanical maintenance, repairs, and replacement duties related to the physical plant, buildings, and equipment approaching various journeyman trades qualifications. Supervises other maintenance workers and designated staff as required. Manages contractors and projects as required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, Rotating

Qualfications
  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer.
  • Grade 10 plus four (4) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work and prioritize work assignments.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
