Job summary

Wonderbrands in Kitchener, ON is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our bakery manufacturing team. You will modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems, perform wiring and testing of automated equipment, and support continuous improvement projects on production lines.

The ideal candidate has a 442A or 309A license, 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience (food industry preferred), strong problem-solving and teamwork skills, and be able to work a rotating day/afternoon/night schedule.

Qualifications

• Industrial Electrician License (442A) or 309A required.
• 3-5 years of industrial electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry.
• General knowledge of PLC and ability to assist all trades.
• Problem-solving skills and good communication skills are required.
• Comfortable using computers.
• Ability to work well within a team and independently.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Flexible shift day/afternoon/night, Sunday to Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Modify and calibrate PLC and HMI systems; adjust equipment like weight scales and servo motors.
• Repair, troubleshoot and install electrical and control systems.
• Electrical wiring and testing of automated systems.
• Improve equipment safety, efficiency and reliability; complete PM work orders.
• Ensure compliance with bakery food safety and health policies.
• Perform preventative maintenance and overhauls on production equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and report hazards.

Pay rate: $43.00/hr

Schedule: Rotating

Responsibilities

• PLC and HMI programming changes and troubleshooting including modification and calibration of equipment; weight scales VFD, Servomotors and network communications experience.
• Repair, troubleshooting and installation of machinery including electrical and electronic equipment, control systems and automation
• Electrical wiring and testing of automated systems
• Optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules
• Previous Food industry experience preferred
• Comply with all applicable legislative and Bakery food safety, health and safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Service, clean and perform preventative maintenance and overhaul on all production and bakery equipment
• Continually improve equipment function via design improvements
• Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times and check work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Industrial Electrician License (442A) or 309A is required
• 3-5 years of industrial, electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry
• General knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and ability to assist all trades people as required
• Problem solving skills and good communication skills are required
• Comfortable using computers
• Ability to work well within a team and independently
• Comfortable with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
• You really enjoy working in a fast paced environment where every day can bring new and unique challenges
• Ability to work a flexible shift day/afternoon/night, Sunday to Saturday.
