About your role:

The Portfolio Manager role is a pivotal strategic and commercial position, responsible for overseeing the financial performance of assets, contracts, and customers, and supporting, challenging and driving key senior commercial decision makers across Assets, Retail and Origination to evolve the Bord Gáis Energy portfolio. As a new role on the Trading team, the successful candidate will leverage their unique experience to maximize opportunities from impending technological, market, and regulatory changes. The role will encompass both our current portfolio but also our future portfolio, providing the management team on clarity on the appropriate path forward.

The Portfolio Manager will leverage deep analytical energy expertise to achieve delivery of our 2030 strategic ambitions, a sustainable business model that maximizes our vertically integrated portfolio. You will manage and align market risk exposures across Trading, Assets, and Retail, and optimize the portfolio with new hedging tools and risk management strategies.

Responsibilities include maximizing value from our Renewables portfolio, working with Trading to optimise spot bids, and managing associated risks. You will challenge commercial rationale and business cases to ensure alignment with the central portfolio view, oversee renewable book optimization scenarios, collaborate on trading strategies, and report against benchmarks. Additionally, you will lead improvements in our technology stack and capabilities, contribute to spot trading strategy design, and originate contracts or trading agreements beneficial to the portfolio in terms of risk reduction, P&L generation and green credentials. Finally, you will manage a team of three direct reports with Commercial and Operational mandates.

Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of energy markets
• Excellent operational and process improvement mindset
• Proficiency in trading platforms and risk management systems.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing energy trading.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
