Job description

We are looking for a Portfolio Manager to join our Tactex team! Tactex Asset Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mogo, makes it possible to bring high quality saving, investing and advisory services to users efficiently and at scale. Our talented team of portfolio managers and operations specialists handles investment, identity verification, and financial flows for users and for other clients, and is the centre of excellence for operations globally. Tactex is a registered portfolio manager, investment fund manager and exempt market dealer, and has built a successful track record in this area. Founded in 2011, we have over $300 Million in assets under management and have conducted over $5 Billion in transactions.


Our Portfolio Manager will have a passion for assisting others while working in a fast paced environment, an energetic disposition and the ability to work and solve problems under minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity to work on many different projects for a dynamic company.


What you'll do:
  • Primarily work in a hybrid model of online advice combined with human service
  • Communicate directly with the firm’s clients, mostly electronically, and sometimes over the phone, to collect information and answer questions
  • Advise clients about RRSP contribution and withdrawal rules and planning
  • Know the products offered in the market, and make recommendations about shifts to be made in various portfolios and funds
  • Rebalance accounts and enter trades according to Investment Policy Statement of clients and Term Sheet of investment funds managed by Tactex
  • Attractive opportunity for extra compensation from onboarding your own clients
  • Stay in touch with other members of the team regarding the status of key projects and processes
  • Review new account documentation

What you'll need:
  • The ideal candidate is currently registered as a Portfolio Manager with working experience or has the requisite education and experience, either:
    • CFA Charter and 12 months of relevant investment management experience in the 36-month period before applying for registration
    • OR Canadian Investment Manager designation and has gained 48 months of relevant investment management experience, 12 months of which was gained in the 36-month period before applying for registration
  • Professional verbal and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a bilingual office (English, French)
  • Willing to take on tasks outside of defined role to help the team succeed
  • A willingness and ability to learn new software and technologies
