Job summary

YDCPro Ltd. is a North American technology consulting and talent solutions firm with HQ in Toronto, Canada. We are seeking a Portfolio Management Consultant with banking experience to oversee budgeting, financial planning, and project portfolios, delivering insights to executives.

You will collaborate with finance, business leaders, and project managers to ensure alignment of funding with strategy and to produce dashboards and reports that support decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics or related discipline.
• Typically 7–10 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services, including portfolio management, financial planning or PMO functions.
• Strong hands-on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cost management, and variance reporting.
• CPA, CFA, or PMP certification would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor a portfolio of banking projects in line with priorities and budgets.
• Develop and maintain portfolio budgets, forecasts and spending plans with finance and business teams.
• Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions on expenditures.
• Evaluate business cases, costs, benefits and resource needs for prioritization and funding decisions.
• Prepare dashboards, financial reports and executive presentations on performance and risks.
• Support governance, steering committee reviews and funding approvals with internal controls.
• Collaborate with leaders, finance and project managers to resolve issues and optimize funding and resources.
• Track expected benefits and identify opportunities to improve budgeting and portfolio processes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Portfolio Management Consultant with a strong banking background and experience in budgeting, financial planning, and project portfolio oversight. The consultant will support investment prioritization, financial governance, and delivery of strategic business and technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor a portfolio of banking projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities, approved budgets, and strategic objectives.
• Develop and maintain portfolio budgets, financial forecasts, and spending plans in collaboration with finance and business teams.
• Analyze actual expenditures against budgets, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate business cases, costs, expected benefits, and resource requirements to support project prioritization and funding decisions.
• Prepare portfolio dashboards, financial reports, and executive presentations highlighting performance, risks, dependencies, and key milestones.
• Support portfolio governance, steering committee reviews, and funding approvals while ensuring adherence to internal policies and controls.
• Collaborate with business leaders, finance teams, and project managers to resolve issues and optimize funding and resource allocation.
• Track expected benefits and identify opportunities to improve budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and portfolio management processes.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Typically, 7–10 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services, including experience in portfolio management, financial planning, or PMO functions.
• Strong hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cost management, and variance reporting.
• Experience supporting large business or technology transformation programs within a banking environment.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI, financial planning systems, or project portfolio management tools.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills.
• CPA, CFA, PMP, or a relevant portfolio management certification would be an asset.
