Job summary

The City of Burnaby is seeking an Equipment Custodian to join the Burnaby RCMP Detachment in the Police – Financial Services unit. This clerical/custodial role tracks, receives, issues and stores weapons and police equipment, ensuring items are in working order and prepared for members.

Candidates must have Grade 12 plus related coursework and related experience; must be proficient with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing, and able to lift heavy items.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 completion with related courses; work experience required.
  • Knowledge of police equipment and weapons handling; safety regulations.
  • Proficient with spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work under minimal supervision.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence and ability to obtain RCMP security clearance.
  • PAL is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Track, receive, issue and store weapons and police equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is in working order and inspect for quality control.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Identify malfunctioning items and arrange for replacement or repair.
  • Prepare equipment kits for members and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Exercise independence of judgment within established guidelines.
