Job summary

Auth0 is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Developer Platform team and own the platform architecture. You will shape scalable, reliable backend systems and collaborate across teams to keep the platform cohesive for developers and agents.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical direction, and raise the bar for execution while partnering with leaders to align the wider platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with principal/staff level experience.
• Distributed backend design for high-scale systems and events.
• Platform thinking for developer-facing systems at scale.
• IAM identity and access management familiarity.
• Ownership in ambiguity with clear technical direction.
• Strong Node.js fundamentals; Go is a plus.
• Agent-aware design for agentic tooling and LLM interfaces.
• Cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own platform architecture and technical direction for the Developer Platform.
• Architect for scale with throughput, reliability, and consistency.
• Turn vague platform problems into modular technical designs.
• Design for developers and agents to build and automate on Auth0.
• Raise engineering bar through reviews and mentorship.
• Partner with adjacent teams to keep the platform aligned.
