Job summary

Russel Metals is seeking two Plasma Operator (Nisku, AB) to cut and package steel parts, inspect material, and run maintenance on machines. This full-time role reports to the Plant Coordinator and requires safety-conscious performance and rotating shifts.

Starting wage is $30.00 per hour with $32.00 after 3 months; pre-employment testing may be required and a competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience operating plasma/oxy fuel torches.
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret shop drawings and other documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
• Reliable.

Responsibilities

• Cut and package steel parts as per customer specs.
• Inspect and measure all material to verify conformance to customer specifications using tape measures, calipers and micrometers.
• Ensure that equipment is operating properly.
• Ensure all pre-shift inspections are completed.
• Perform weekly, monthly & annual maintenance on machines.
• Work efficiently and safely to ensure deadlines are met.

We are currently seeking two motivated individuals for the position of Plasma Operator within our Nisku, AB location (701 15TH Ave). This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Plant Coordinator.

Please note - our work environment is safety sensitive and will require the successful applicant to undergo pre-employment testing.

• Cut and package steel parts as per customer specs

Education and Skills Required:

• Minimum 3 years experience operating plasma/oxy fuel torches
• Previous experience in a steel shop considered an asset
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Forklift & Overhead Crane experience an asset
• Proficient in performing mathematical calculations with ability to read a tape measure / caliper
• Reliable
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shop drawings and other documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts

Shift Hours: 7-3:30pm, 3:00-11:30pm, 11pm-7:30am (Rotating every 2-4 weeks)

Wage: $30.00/hr to start, $32.00/hr after 3 months
