Job summary

Cascades is hiring a Plant Manager in Victoria to lead a safety-focused operation and drive profitability across the plant. You will guide a multi-disciplinary team, develop strategy, and uphold labour relations within a unionized setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or Engineering preferred
  • A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership role
  • Prior experience in the paper industry or other manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment, including collective agreements and labour relations practices, is strongly preferred
  • Experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is an asset
  • Experienced with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.), SAP, PowerBI and other Data Visualisation tools

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that a plant-wide safety program is in place and that all employees carry out their responsibilities as described
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent hazards
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction to meet organizational objectives and ensure fiscal health of the business unit
  • Develop business strategies to support operational functions and profitability
  • Develop an employee-oriented culture emphasizing safety, quality, continuous improvement, retention, and development
  • Foster positive labour relations by working within a unionized environment and ensuring compliance with the collective agreement
  • Demonstrate leadership to support a team of Supervisory and Management staff and all plant personnel

Your Role

As Plant Manager, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential.
Your scope includes:

  • Ensure that a plant wide safety program is in place and that all employees are carrying out their responsibilities as described

  • Provide oversight and strategic direction to meet organizational objectives and ensure the fiscal health of the business unit.
  • Develop business strategies to support the operational functions and ensure profitability.
  • Development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes safety, quality, continuous improvement, retention, employee development and high performance.
  • Foster positive labour relations by working collaboratively within a unionized environment and ensuring compliance with the collective agreement.
  • Display exemplary leadership to support a team of direct reports comprised of Supervisory and Management staff, and all other office and plant personnel

What you bring

You're a natural fit for Plant Managerif you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or Engineering preferred
  • A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership role.
  • Prior experience in the paper industry or other manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment, including the application and interpretation of collective agreements and labour relations practices, is strongly preferred
  • Experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is an asset
  • Experienced with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.), SAP, PowerBI and other Data Visualisation tools
