Position Summary

The Plant Manager, under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, People and Culture, will primarily be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing environment. This position will develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals. This role will also seek opportunities to improve efficiencies and undertake continuous improvement objectives. The Plant Manager must be a positive role model in the workplace, displaying adaptability, leadership, and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Cultivate a work environment committed to the health, safety, and wellness of all employees, and ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Plan and conduct meetings with supervisors to communicate team targets, goals, and projects.
  • Show support and provide mentorship to the plant supervisors and lead hands.
  • Work directly with human resources regarding employee issues and assist the supervisors and lead hands in their documentation of shop floor issues.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure that the Quality Control program is being monitored, and that the staff are performing according to established standards.
  • Oversee the production office via communication with the production schedulers.
  • Manage a workplace succession plan in coordination with the plant supervisors and human resources, to determine potential areas for employee promotion.
  • Liaise with the maintenance team to ensure that equipment is being maintained appropriately.
  • Ensure that plant efficiencies are monitored and that production lines are running as required.
  • Assist sales with rush order requests.
  • Hold staff accountable for the performance objectives.
  • Promote continuous improvement in the workplace and be a champion for change in the organization.
  • Translate strategic goals into practical actions.
  • Stay up to date on new and emerging trends in the manufacturing industry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience with coaching and development of supervisor-level employees.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Ability to initiate and model positive change.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong formal and informal leadership skills.
  • A clear and solid understanding of the issues faced by the organization and the manufacturing Industry.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing successful KPI’s.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
