JOB SUMMARY :
The Plant HR Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive employee relations environment that fosters a stable and productive workforce. Manages all employment functions, including labor relations, compensation, benefits, workforce planning, staffing, training, performance management, security, and workers’ compensation, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The successful candidate will interact daily with associates at the plant location.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive) :
- Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Investigate HR-related incidents and complaints; recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct periodic local wage surveys for hourly employees.
- Maintain accurate plant job descriptions for CNESST and Accessible Canada Act compliance.
- Attract, interview, and hire qualified applicants to ensure proper staffing.
- Coordinate pre-employment assessments and background checks.
- Oversee workers’ comp insurance matters and advise management accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with CNESST, Canadian Accessibility Act, and other relevant laws.
- Support management in creating a positive employee relations environment, including events and committees.
- Maintain non-union status at the facility.
- Participate in employee opinion surveys and develop action plans.
- Advise on interview questions, coaching, disciplinary actions, and career development.
- Conduct exit interviews and process terminations.
- Assist in developing and enforcing HR policies and employee handbook; ensure compliance.
- Provide training on benefit programs and resolve insurance issues.
- Assist with payroll processing and record maintenance in accordance with legal requirements.
- Support employee training programs for key responsibilities.
- Assist with plant safety programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Note: Ineligible for hybrid work. Willing to travel domestically as needed. Physical ability to access all plant areas, lift lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience.
- Experience in HR management within manufacturing or industrial settings preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with HR investigations, CNESST, and Canadian Human Rights Act issues.
- Experience in training program delivery.
- Willingness to engage with employees across shifts and work flexible hours.
- Availability for on-site consultation outside regular hours.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs as needed.
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office, UKG, and Workforce payroll systems.
- CRHA or equivalent certification required or to be obtained within the first year.
Must be bilingual in French and English.
