Job summary

Patriot Forge Corporation in Ontario is seeking a qualified Project Manager to lead capital and expense projects, coordinating design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of large forging equipment and plant expansions.

The ideal candidate holds a Professional Engineer license, 5+ years in a heavy industrial setting, and strong AutoCAD skills, with proven ability to manage contractors and lead cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license in good standing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multidiscipline projects for large forging equipment and plant expansions.
  • Coordinate and review work of Sub Contractors and maintenance staff on capital projects.
  • Develop and execute Project Work Plans and Schedules for capital and major expense projects.
  • Support capital equipment purchasing (requirements, evaluations, buy vs. build).
  • Mentor Jr. Engineers and project managers; provide status reports to Senior Management.

Salary Range: $95,000.00 To $125,000.00 Annually

Overview of Position:

To manage, plan, and execute Capital and Expense projects in support of our capital expansion and equipment upgrade objectives

Responsibilities:
  • Manage multidiscipline projects ranging from design, build, and installation projects for large forging equipment (furnaces, forging presses, etc.) to plant expansions
  • Proven involvement and interaction with all project team members, including Maintenance, Operations and Management
  • Develop and coordinate equipment overhaul and upgrade projects
  • Coordinate and review the work of Sub Contractors and maintenance staff who are participating in capital projects
  • Develop and execute Project Work Plans and Schedule activities for capital and major expense projects
  • Support capital equipment purchasing (requirement definitions, product and supplier evaluations, buy vs. build exercises)
  • Participate in Greenfield plant design, construction, and commissioning projects
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to Jr. Engineers and project managers
  • Provide regular status reports to Senior Management
  • Complete machine design and equipment layout assignments
  • Provide guidance, direction, and design upgrades for existing equipment
  • Comply with H&S management program and policies
Experience:
  • Professional Engineer license in good standing
  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineer or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Proven large project management experience related to heavy equipment procurement and installation as well as industrial construction
  • Knowledge of large hydraulic systems, presses, cranes, mobile equipment, and heavy machine tools
  • Heavy machine design experience would be an asset
  • Proficiency in AutoCad is required
  • Heavy machine design experience is an asset
  • Experience managing contractors, machine design and build companies, and trades
  • A willingness to get hands on when necessary
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision
