Job description

Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third‑party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. We have 16 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. We convert aluminum scrap and by‑products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill. This position will be located in Mississauga, Canada.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a hands‑on Plant Engineer to serve as the primary engineering resource for our Mississauga manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being on the plant floor, partnering closely with maintenance teams, troubleshooting equipment issues, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and executing capital and operations improvement projects.

  • Serve as the primary engineering resource for plant operations and maintenance teams.
  • Partner closely with maintenance personnel to troubleshoot equipment failures and recurring operations actions.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities that enhance safety, reliability, productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop, manage, and support capital and operational improvement projects from concept to implementation.
  • Support projects involving equipment optimization, material handling and stacking systems, blister pumps, and other plant equipment.
  • Create and update mechanical layouts, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop and revise equipment drawings, and plant documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support reliability and preventative maintenance initiatives.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with application safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

If you enjoy solving real‑world industrial challenges, working directly with equipment, and driving meaningful improvements in a manufacturing environment, we encourage you to apply! For this role, REAL ALLOY offers competitive compensation and benefits with a base salary of $73,000.00 - $105,000.00.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience working in a heavy industrial manufacturing, processing, or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting maintenance and reliability initiatives.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies.
