Job summary

Jobgether in Canada seeks an experienced Industrial Process Engineer to lead process engineering across pulp and paper, forestry, and tissue manufacturing projects. You will provide technical direction from concept to commissioning and mentor junior engineers while driving process improvements.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support feasibility studies, and contribute to business development and client relationships for ongoing industrial initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • P.Eng designation or eligibility for registration with a provincial engineering association.
  • 7+ years of industrial process engineering experience in pulp and paper, tissue manufacturing, forestry products, or similar industries.
  • Strong knowledge of process design: PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process modelling, calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Experience leading feasibility studies, plant assessments, process optimization, and capital projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities for complex industrial processes.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and communicate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting proposals and identifying new opportunities.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and mentoring mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process engineering assignments for pulp and paper, forestry, tissue manufacturing, and other industrial facilities, providing technical direction throughout project delivery.
  • Develop and review deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process calculations, models, and reports.
  • Provide technical leadership while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and automation teams.
  • Support feasibility studies, process optimization, expansions, modernization and operational improvements.
  • Conduct process assessments, troubleshoot, evaluate equipment, and review plant performance.
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to understand needs, communicate recommendations, and develop solutions.
  • Support proposal development and business development, identifying opportunities and strengthening relationships.
  • Provide construction, commissioning, startup support to ensure projects meet performance targets.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standards and best practices.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Industrial Process Engineer based in Canada. This is an opportunity for an experienced process engineer to contribute to complex industrial projects from concept through commissioning. You will provide technical leadership across pulp and paper, forestry, tissue manufacturing, and related industrial environments. The role combines hands-on process engineering with client collaboration, project delivery, and business development. You will develop practical solutions, optimize industrial processes, and support modernization, expansion, and operational improvement initiatives. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will influence project outcomes and help solve challenging technical problems. The position also offers opportunities to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of the industrial practice. Accountabilities
  • Lead process engineering assignments for pulp and paper, forestry, tissue manufacturing, and other industrial facilities, providing technical direction throughout project delivery.
  • Develop and review key process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process calculations, process models, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical leadership while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams spanning mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and automation engineering.
  • Support feasibility studies, process optimization initiatives, facility expansions, modernization programs, and operational improvement projects.
  • Conduct process assessments, troubleshooting investigations, equipment evaluations, and plant performance reviews to identify practical improvement opportunities.
  • Work directly with clients and project stakeholders to understand technical needs, communicate recommendations, and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Support proposal development and business development activities, including identifying opportunities and strengthening relationships within the industrial sector.
  • Provide construction, commissioning, and startup support to help ensure projects are delivered successfully and achieve expected operational performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of industrial process engineering capabilities, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with a provincial engineering association.
  • At least 7 years of industrial process engineering experience, with strong exposure to pulp and paper, tissue manufacturing, forestry products, or comparable industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of process design principles, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process modelling, calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Demonstrated experience leading feasibility studies, plant assessments, process optimization initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to assess complex industrial processes and develop practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities, including experience supporting proposals and identifying new opportunities.
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach, with an interest in mentoring others and contributing to continuous improvement.
